Day 9

26 May, 2009

Today I did a couple of things.

First I helped my Mum, outside of my school, by taking her heavy computer-bag.

I know I made adifference because a passing teacher said "What a nice girl!" And my Mum agreed!
I felt really good that my Mum thought such things about me!

I also made my Dad and brother hot drinks.

I know I made a difference because Dad said "Thank you Megan" and my brother said "Ooooh!" but I don't really listen to what he says to me!

Day 8

25 May

I helped with dinner again & it was really yummy.

It really helped my Mum and I know that cause she said "Thanks"

I felt hungry & rather proud cause it looked great.

Day 7

24 May

Today I helped with dinner, & cleared the table afterward.

I think it really helped my Dad because he can't really do all the things I did for him.

I felt really good about doing that.

I'm sure him felt relieved.

Today I made tea, coffee and Milo for my family, and as there were 8 of us, it was quite a job!

I didn't even get one for myself!
Later on I went on free rice and raised over 300 grains of rice.

I know I made a difference cause he cheered up alot.]

I felt real good acause I knew I did a good deed.

He musta felt good too, cause he started grinning...

I also went onto free-rice and raised 200 grains of rice, I plan to raise more tomorrow.

Day 3

Today I helped my Dad by taking our Dog, Shadow's dinner out onto the deck, because my Dad has trouble carrying things as he moves, because he's on crutches.

I know I made a difference because he looked good and I know I was relieving him, in a small way.
Shadow, dog, soon clicked that I had the food and got all excited and very, very happy!

I felt really good about what I was doing, because my Dad is finally getting a bit better. With any luck he'll be all go for work, play, etc. in a few weeks!

Day 2

Today I helped by empty the dish washer after-school.

I occansionally do this in the morning, but this morning the dishwasher wasn't done.
When this happens I normally just get on with whatever I was doing & wait for my Mother to do this chore.
Instead today I got up for my afternoon tea, walked over, & did it for her!

Mum looked quite relieved and went to start on dinner.
I also stopped this from burning....

Day 1

The Blog starts officially today.
I'm very excited- but you probaly don't really care.
So... this is what I did today.
I made a friend laugh when she was going a bit moody. She laughed loud and clear- and that normally means she's now feeling very good.
I also didn't throw a hissing when my computer-hogging sister didn't get off when it was my turn (very unusal- for me). My Dad through me a thankful glance cuase he hates getting in the middle of one of our fights...
I also made popcorn though I didn't want. I did this because I knew my little brother would be hungry and that he always burns the popcorn and then never eats it. So I made him some.

All 4 now,
Will write in tomorrow, hopefully.

14-15 May

Unfortunately I wasn't able to write in what I did to make a difference yesterday...
I helped my friend with her Gmail account...
She didn't know how to add Contacts, and as I knew I showed her...
She didn't even have to ask.
I remembered she didn't know how and when I saw her struggling with it I walked over and showed her how.
She was very grateful.
I also offered to help another of my friends as she had a P5 (time in school) so I asked her if she wanted me to take her stuff back to the class.
She looked at me as she accepted with thanks in her eyes.
It made me feel on top of the world
It made me feel really good about what I was doing....

Today I picked up some rubbish that wasn't mine...
No one saw but it made me feel good to know that I'm helping the Environment, without being asked...
All for now...

13 May

Althrough I was told not to start yet, I did some good deeds that I thought I should write down before I forget.

  • Today I picked up some rubbish that wasn't mine.
  • Today I tossed my sister what she wanted instead of doing what I normally did and aimed at her head; knowing she'd miss the catch and it would hit her... Hard.

It made me feel rather good when I did this... but since I did so little I'm sure I'll feel better about what I'm doing when I do even more!

I didn't much but a wise person (me) once (or twice... OK a lot) said; "A lot of little makes a lot of difference..."

All 4 now...

12 May,

It starts tomorrow...
I'm rather nervous; what if I get to the end of the day, totally puffed, & I haven't done anything...
Will I fail???

16's 17 Days to Make a Difference

As part of our Inquiry unit, Room 12 from New Zealand has decided to put our topic on citizenship into practice. We have the challenge of performing one kind deed, each day, for 17 days, starting from the 13th of May, 2009. Follow us as we blog our citizenship journey.

Another thing I have to do is identify what makes a good citizen.

I think what makes a good citizen is their heart, intentions & what they choose to do, be it good or bad.
I think just because you look not very nice you can be nicer than the sweet little child smiling at you over the room.

What makes me ME a good citizen.

To be honest, sometimes I'm NOT a good citizen, I laugh at others, instead of helping them. Sometimes I do Devil-ish things. And later I don't always feel bad about what I did. But I still think I'm a reasonably good citizen because we all do things we shouldn't, and we all make mistakes. I think I'm still a good citizen because I try to make a little difference everyday & I have a Golden Heart, or so I'm told.

5 May

Hello.
It's before the 17 days, the preparation time.
It starts on the 13th of May.
A good idea, I think is to think of somethings that I could do.

  • I want to cook dinner one night, it would be a help acause my father broke his leg and can't walk properly, let alone cook a good meal.
  • I could help by taking my dog for a walk or two... Poor dog never gets walks now by Dad's out of action... (sigh)
  • I could help my younger sibling by reaching up to get things he cannot reach instead of laughing and/ or taking it away from him for no real reason. (moo ha ha ha!)
  • Volunter to do little, or big, jobs for others.

Thats all I got so...

LOL
